St. Pat's Throwbacks

Unless you've spent a good amount of time in Savannah, you're probably unfamiliar with the insane popularity of the city's St. Patrick's Day parade. Long story short, it's huge! About a half a million people come every year in their finest green duds to celebrate with a four hour parade.
Given the extent of the celebration, we thought it only right to dive right in to the craziness and sport some St. Pat's costumes ourselves. 5 Green afros, a pack of iron-on transfers, 2 boxes of kelly green fabric dye and 10 knee-high, green-striped socks later and the St. Pat's Throwbacks were born:

more pics to come.

How to fry a jalapeno turkey
I may be a lobster, but I can at least tell you how to fry a jalapeno turkey. Thanks to Matt's uncle Michael Espinoza we were able to try out this awesome recipe, so big thanks to him!!
Step 1: Spend about 30 minutes assembling the cooking set Jeremy bought you for your birthday last year.
Step 2: Sport an evil grin, while packing the turkey with delicious pickled jalapenos.
Step 3: 2 cans later, it cant hold anymore!
Step 4: Find a friend to help you sew it up like a football, while you inject jalapeno juice into it. Yikes!
Step 5: Sewn, stuffed and hogtied turkey, reporting for duty SIR!!
Step 6: Slowly lower the turkey into 350 degree oil.
Step 7: Watch as the oil frys the turkey. Awww yeah.
Step 8: Stand around and have some beers, or like Ken....stand on one leg for about 55 mins.
Step 9: Golden, delicious turkey, ready to be cut up and consumed.
Step 10: ENJOY!!!!
If I wasnt a vegetarian...and a lobster I would have loved to have enjoyed this delicious turkey. Maybe next time they'll have a spare tank sitting around so I can at least have a few beers without suffocating. Until next time, this is chef Buster saying "I PIIIIIIIIIIIINCH!!"

CD Reco!
Ok peeps. I'm not sure if anyone can relate to this, but lately I've been in a complete music slump. I've had the hardest time forming a close bond with an album or even an artist for that matter and have found myself constantly shuffling through my music in anguish! But then a miracle happened. I stumbled upon Kate Nash and her new CD "Made of Bricks". She's a super cute Brit and her music is catchy and alot of fun. I pretty much keep her CD on repeat on my Ipod & Itunes and I don't plan on switching to shuffle anytime soon! Check her stuff out!

Love is in the air!
Well, the month of February has managed to pass us by but yet love still lingers in the air. All weekend I have seen quite the assortment of "love tags" strewn across the city. Everywhere I went I saw things on lamp posts, buildings and sidewalks. Some cute, some perverse - but nonetheless...sweet nothings! Here are two of the "love tags" that happened to catch my eye as I was sashaying by them. One is kinda dirty and the other super sweet.
The first one I saw when I was coming back from grabbing a coffee at Cafe' Cafe' in Soho. It was on a lamp post outside of Green Street deli.

The second one was in the East Village on 11th between 1st and 2nd. I glanced over and saw this super sweet quote scribbled across a metal garage door. The image is a bit blurry (it was taken on my cell phone while Maddie tugged on her leash) but i'm sure you'll be able to decipher what it says (hint: "We can walk and hold hands") Cute!

Hugs and kisses from the city! XOXO

DVR update!

Ok, it has been WAY too long since i've posted anything on the blog - but I swear I am going to get better!
I'm sure that everyone has been scratching their noggens wondering..."what is Katie doing all day if she's not posting random things on this blog?". Well, the answer to your query is...watching Free Radio on VH1! Oh yah! I'm not sure if anyone has caught this show but it is HILarious and completely fabtastic! I swear. It is one of the funniest new improv shows on TV and I will be beyond devastated when it is eventually pulled. For now, I am proud to say that it is the newest addition to my DVR list and anyone that enjoys a solid half hour of improvised comedy should do the same.
Check it out

Tank Update

We've recently welcomed a new addition to the tank family at 101 W. Perry St. While picking up a new filter at PetSmart, we couldn't resist a new fish purchase...especially because of the sale signs ;) We chose a little catfish from one of the many tanks. The PetSmart employee scooped him out of the tank and went to transfer him to a bag when—oh no!—the little guy was upside-down at the bottom of the cup!
He had gone belly-up before we even got him home...or so we thought. Turns out this species has a very distinct defense mechanism—they knock themselves out! ha ha. The little catfish was fine, but they gave us another one just in case. When Matt attempted to put our new fish, who by that time had adopted the name "Olav Meowski," into the tank, the little bugger knocked himself out in Matt's hand:

Olav finally came-to and started exploring the tank & avoiding the claws of Buster. A tank-check a few minutes later revealed he had once again fashioned himself unconscious:

In other tank news, Buster has developed into quite the interior decorator. His latest renovation included rearranging the tank plants...especially interesting is the one he placed inside the cup:

So the company I work for had the opportunity to do this sweeeeeet project, which involves filming in a helicopter, motion tracking and matching using 3dsMax and After Effects goodness. Here are some pictures from my trip!
The bad ass helicopter we flew in.
Complete with a state of the art CineFlex Gen3 HD system.
READY FOR TAKE OFF!!
I was being serious I swear!
Gray Mitchell doing some preliminary tests on the controls.
Buddy Knotts; owner and opperator of Helivision (http://www.helivision.com/) He is a phenominial pilot!!
Following flight paths to get the shots we need.
He landed that sucker right on that trailer. I dont think I could park my car in a space like that. I was impressed!
Refueling, Buddy Knotts and the the Fueler on duty at a local airport.
After the shoot, had to walk over and have a convo with Gordon and Jimmy Johnson about their performance at last weeks Daytona 500.
