Hola mi agimos!
We're on day 23 of Lisa's Costa Rican adventure and she was finally able to upload some pictures...well, more like a few hundred, ha ha. I picked a few out to give you a glimpse into what she's been up to so far. If you want to go through all the pics, I'll include the links to her galleries at the bottom.
Before she left, Lisa chopped off 11 inches of her gorgeous locks to donate to Locks of Love. For a girl with thick hair about to embark on a humidity-filled, 5 month stint in paradise...that's quite a sacrifice. Here's a pic of her with the short do:

The first few weeks of her trip, Lisa stayed with David, a friend of hers who is a Costa Rican native. He gave her a tour of the whole country, introduced her to some friends, took her to the beach and brought her to her first Costa Rican festival.
With David & his friends at the festival:

Quoting Lisa, "the red head is my friend sammy. she's from
england...she's volunteering at an orphanage and staying with David's friend Ivan...she's awesome"

Chillin at the beach & learning how to surf with the boys....looks like a tough life :) She says she's gone surfing a few times, but its intimidating because the waves are so huge. She's buying a board soon though, so it can't be that discouraging!

Site-seeingVolcano Irazu and the drive:

Another quote: "The big white church is in Cartago. Its a place where there is a statue of Mary. It showed up hundreds of years ago on a rock. A little girl brought it home and the next day it was back on the rock. then a priest locked it in the tabernacle and it still showed up on the rock the next day. the pics of the glass things with charms in them. .. People come from all over and do some walk on their knees and ask for healing at tsome magic fountain that water just started coming out. Then after they are healed they come back and give a charm of remeberance that is whatever was healed. hope you understood that. its really beautiful."

"the old church that is falling apart is by that lake...where all the guys brought me jet skiing and we saw the volcano smoking and the cascada. I wish i brought my camera that day."

"The pictures of the monkeys are from my porch. the gazebo looking thing is our main classroom. The pool and houses are all on campus."

Sounds like she's doing well. She's getting alot of Spanish practice and loving everything about her new "home." I think one of us may have to fly down there for her graduation just to make sure she comes back! ha ha
The rest of her photos are up on snapfish.com
